Fran tells us...
Prior to getting diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer at 25 years old, I was a Personal Trainer in London and health and fitness was my passion. I trained hard, and was the fittest of my life when I was diagnosed; part of the reason why I was misdiagnosed and ignored the year before when I found a lump when I was 24 years old- I was told I was young, fit and hormonal. I was diagnosed 18 months later, stage 4 with metastasis to skull and liver - told had 2 years to live. I changed hospitals as wanted treatment- brain surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I am on Targeted therapy now and hormonal treatment. I went into remission September 2021.
Throughout brain surgery recovery, 16 rounds of chemotherapy and radiotherapy to my skull, I continued to exercise because I knew the benefits it could have.
I then qualified as a Can-rehab level 4 Cancer Exercise and Rehabilitation Specialist. I work with clients pre-treatment, during and post. 1:1 in a studio in Marylebone London or online if afar! proved to myself and everyone around that it was correct; I didn't fatigue, I kept muscle mass and I continue to do so now whilst on hormone therapy and a target drug. I became a Cancer Exercise Rehabilitation Specialist last year, to enable me to help other pre-treatments, during treatment and post-treatment move their bodies not just for physical benefits but mental benefits too. There was a lack of help for people around the country and the world, so I've enabled my services to be online and I train people 1:1 in zoom from Devon to Manchester to New York! Seeing and hearing how my clients feel after one session, the control they have regained, the mental positivity they feel is incredible. That's why I qualified and that's why I now do it full time.
I have clients with all types of cancer breast, cervical, bowel, skin just to name a few! Chemo, radio, mastectomies, pelvic extraction, spinal mets, everything!
How amazing is Fran!
